THE EFFECTS OF RADIO-FREQUENCY ENERGY ON CORYNEBACTERIUM DIPHTHERIAE AND CLOSTRIDIUM WELCHII TOXINS

Abstract

Cl. welchii and C. diphtheriae toxins were exposed to continuous microwave irradiation at 158 megacycles per second. No effect was noted on clostridium toxin. The toxicity of C. diphtheriae toxin was slightly reduced, while antigenicity was not affected. The assay procedures are discussed and their efficacy questioned.
