Physical and Mechanical Properties of Pressure Vessel Material for Application in a Cryogenic Environment

Abstract

The objectives of this investigation are a discussion of the test program and selection of test materials; a brief description of test specimens and apparatus is given. Test results are discussed. Test data include tensile, notched tensile, weld tensile, axial fatigue, and crack propagation properties of 7039-T6 aluminum alloy, 18% nickel maraging steel, Hastelloy B, and 718 nickel base alloy from 75 to -423 F. Plans for future work, are given.
