COMPUTING PROGRAMS FOR COMPLEX BESSEL FUNCTIONS,

Abstract

The asymptotic series with converging factor is used in subroutines to evaluate conventional Bessel functions. Rational polynomial approximations are developed for the modified Bessel function of the second kind of orders zero, one third, two thirds, and one. The range of validity of the rational approximations is that part of the complex plane on the positive side which is bounded by the imaginary axis and by a circle of unit radius. Values of the modified Bessel function to thirteen decimal digits are tabulated at unit intervals in the argument. (Author)
