REFLECTIVITY OF AIRFIELD MARKING PAINTS,

Abstract

As part of an investiation to determine the appropriate formulation for an airfield marking paint, a laboratory study was made of the reflectivity of such paints. Diffuse reflectance spectra and percent reflectance in the visible and near infrared (0.4 to 2.5 microns) were recorded for sixteen proprietary marking paints and a number of experimental paint formulations. Suitable combinations of pigments and infrared absorbers produced formulations with a desired high visible reflectance and low infrared reflectance. (Author)
