MICROWAVE NONLINEAR DIELECTRIC MATERIALS.

Abstract

The reproducibility of the high nonlinearity in Alumina-doped BST-50, (Ba(0. 5), Sr(0.5))TiO3, was checked above the Curie temperature against another such sample fired simultaneously. The latter exhibited a nonlinearity 30 to 50% lower than the former. The microwave properties particularly the nonlinearity, of BST-50 and BST-70 ceramics were studied near the Curie temperature. The high nonlinearities obtained are discussed with regard to doping and grain structure. Large grain sizes appear to give to higher nonlinearities near the Curie temperature, even though the corresponding bulk densities fall in the 87 - 95% range. Three series of stannate-doped strontium titanate ceramics showed nonlinearities little greater (and in some cases, less) than the undoped standard samples. (Author)
