NEGATIVE-GRID TUBES FOR PHASED ARRAYS.

Abstract

The target objectives of obtaining from a triode useful cw output of 1 KW at 1300Mc with an efficiency of 50 per cent were attained and surpassed. An efficiency of 67 per cent were obtained at 1 KW output with a power gain of 13 db. At an output power level of 500 watts, the power gain was 20 db. This high level of performance was achieved with the L-65 triode structure as a direct result of the incorporation of a rugged grid capable of providing a grid plate transconductance of 0.3 mho at a plate current of 0.5 amp.
