EXCITATION OF CHROMOSPHERIC HE I,

Abstract

New calculations are carried out for b sub j for the singlet and triplet states of He I, using corrected transition rates from earlier analysis. The new results differ considerably from earlier calculations and lead to a new chromospheric model, whose major changes are in the geometry of the helium regions. (Author)
