STUDY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF APPLYING ULTRASONIC ENERGY TO THE ROLLING PROCESS FOR SHEET MEETALS.

Abstract

This report is confined primarily to the design and performance of a transducerized roll. Data are presented for a brazed full-scale test roll and subsequent test sections which indicate the acoustic feasibility of constructing an internally transducerized roll thhhat will vibrate at a frequency of 11 KKC/s with a peakto-peak radial surface displacement of at least 0.00012 inch. Additional data on transducerized work pieces of copper and steel are presented. (Author)
