NITROSO RUBBER RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION.

Abstract

The preparative process for CF3CO2NO has been modified for larger scale operation. Production of pure CF3CO2NO, CF3NO, and C2F4 has been continued. The preparation of C6F5NO was also continued, but the synthesis of carboxy-substituted fluorinated aromatic nitroso compounds has not yet been effected. A CF3NO/C2F4 copolymer of greater than 1,300,000 molecular weight has been prepared. Terpolymers containing C6F5NO in varying ratios were prepared and compounding and cure studies initiated. Monomer and polymer production facilities are nearing completion. (Author)
