THE USE OF SOLAR RADIO EMISSION FOR ANTENNA ORIENTATION,
Abstract
The sun is a readily available source of microwave radiation which can be detected by many tracking systems. Since the position of the sun is well known from optical measurements, the sun can be used as a beacon for antenna alignment. A technique for performing such an alignment is described and operating instructions for a computer program to provide analytic tracking angles for the sun are given. Techniques for increasing the accuracy of the alignment are discussed. The theory of the sun tracking program is presented and a listing of the program is provided. (Author)
