INVESTIGATION OF THE PHOTOPOLYMERIZATION PROCESS.

Abstract

Emphasis continues on methods of increasing the photographic speed of the photopolymerization process. N-acrylyl pyrrolidone, N-acrylyl piperidone and N-acrylyl caprolactam were prepared and evaluated as photopolymerizable monomers in coated layers. Omega acrylamidocaproic acid was prepared for the first time. A photopolymerization composition combining this monomer with N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide showed greater photographic speed than a composition combining acrylamide and N,N'methylenebisacrylamide. Aryl Diazonium salts were very effective initiators for the electropolymerization of vinyl monomers. Films containing such compounds underwent rapid polymerazation to form a brown color by electrolysis. Photoconductive coatings, consisting of photoconductors dispersed in resins, were made on Nesa Glass. (Author)
