NOL RING TEST METHODS

Abstract

Methods were developed for the evaluation of filament wound composite structures making use of NOL ring test specimens. A method of ring fabrication and techniques for determination of ring tensile strength and ring interlaminar shear strength were standardized and are presented. References are also cited for flexural and compression tests now in use. These methods have all been found of value in making materials comparisons in research and development work and have also served as materials quality control techniques.
