APPLICATIONS OF FLOW REACTOR MODELS TO PROCESS SIMULATION,

Abstract

A tubular flow-reactor operating in laminar flow is used to synthesize a product by a highly exothermic liquid-phase reaction. Three mathematical models of the reactor are described, solved, and the solutions compared. The most sophisticated model includes the coupled effects of heat conduction, mass diffusion, and the exothermic chemical reaction. A listing of the FORTRAN IV IBM 7094 computer used in solving this model is included. (Author)
