FEASIBILITY STUDY OF FLOTATION OF SUNKEN VESSELS BY INJECTION OF FOAMED FLOTATION MATERIAL.

Abstract

Based upon the results of an extensive literature survey, an experimental program to investigate foam formulations for flotation of sunken vessels was planned. Results obtained from tests in high pressure gas and in the presence of water indicate that it is feasible to obtain rigid foams of moderate density and with good physical and mechanical properties under these conditions. Further experiments designed to determine the effect of combining the high pressure and aqueous environments on the foam properties are discussed. (Author)
