AN EVALUATION OF THE LAYING AND TRACKING CAPABILITY OF THE M114A1 SCOUT VEHICLE, MAINLY AGAINST HELICOPTERS,

Abstract

This paper presents an evaluation of the laying and tracking capability of the M114A1 Command and Reconnaissance Vehicle. The mission of the Field Experiments Division (formerly Combat Developments Division) of RAC is to provide timely solutions to current Army problems involving tactics and doctrine. The division is concerned with the employment of helicopters in a reconnaissance role, to evaluate the relative effectiveness of three helicopter reconnaissance tactics. Helicopter performance was measured in terms of how well helicopters acquired targets and survived simulated fire from reconnaissance vehicles. (Author)
