LONGITUDINAL IMPACT OF A SEMI-INFINITE CIRCULAR VISCOELASTIC ROD,
Abstract
The response to longitudinal impact of a semiinfinite, viscoelastic rod of finite radius is investigated. Laplace transform methods with asymptotic analysis are applied, and use is made of a cylindrical shell. The oscillatory character of the response in the elastic rod is suppressed due to the presence of viscosity. (Author)
