CRYOPUMPING OF CO2 NOZZLE FLOW BY 77 K CRYOSURFACE,

Abstract

Tests were conducted in an 8.25-in.-diam by 44.50-in. chamber utilizing 77 K walls to remove CO2 gas flow. The CO2 gas temperature was varied from ambient to 1680 F. A method was devised to estimate the capture coefficient of high-temperature CO2, and the relationship was confirmed for various gas temperatures. Trapping of N2 by CO2 gas flow was accomplished at a ratio of 1 N2 molecule to 100,000 CO2 molecules. A significant amount of ejector action was observed for CO2. (Author)
