THE EFFECT OF NUCLEAR RADIATION ON ELASTOMERIC AND PLASTIC COMPONENTS AND MATERIALS. ADDENDUM

Abstract

This report is an addendum to REIC Report No. 21 and presents the state of the art of the effects of nuclear radiation on elastomeric and plastic components and materials from 1961 to the present. The mechanism of radiation damage and the effects of radiation in various environments are briefly discussed. Data summarizing the radiation-effects information on specific components and on the various types of elastomers and plastics are presented in detail.
