ALTITUDE-VELOCITY TABLE AND CHARTS FOR IMPERFECT AIR

Abstract

Normal shock wave parameters are presented in tabular and graphical form over the ranges of altitude = 10000 (10000) 4 x 100,000 ft and velocity = 6000 1000 50,000 ft/sec. The calculations are based on the thermodynamic data of Hilsenrath and Klein (AEDC-TDR-63-161) and Lewis and Neel (AEDC-TDR-64-36) and the 1962 U. S. Standard Atmosphere. The results are tabulated in the form of ratios of enthalpy, pressure, density, and temperature with the free-stream quantity. In addition, speed of sound, compressibility factor, sphere stagnation heat transfer rate, and free-stream unit Reynolds number are also given. Altitude-velocity charts are given for the principal quantities of interest. Correlations of sphere stagnation heat-transfer rates based on Fay and Riddell and Fay and Kemp are presented.
