SYNTHESIS OF S-TRIAZINYL POLYETHERS BY INTERFACIAL CONDENSATION.

Abstract

Several polyphenyl-s-triazinyl ethers were prepared by interfacial polycondensation of cyanuric chloride or 2-phenyl-4, 6-dichloro-s-triazine with various dihydric aromatic compounds. Aromatic compounds used were resorcinol, hydroquinone, 4,4' dihydroxybiphenyl, and 2,2 bis (p-hydroxyphenyl) propane. The aromatic compounds were reacted as their sodium salt in water. The s-triazinyl chlorides were dissolved in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, dibutyl phthalate, and chlorobenzene. This is the first instance where polyphenyl-s-triazinyl ethers were prepared by interfacial polycondensation. (Author)
