AN INTEGRATED NAVY SHIP MAINTENANCE AND MATERIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM,

Abstract

A procedure is designed to exploit modern electronic data processing machines by integrating an information system in final support of ship's readiness for mission assignment. This procedure is based on a reclassification of naval ships and provision of a coded military configuration for each subclass of ships and a coded material configuration of each individual ship to support the military characteristics of its subclass. All information pertinent to the management of ship maintenance or material is coded for evaluation of its effect on the ultimate goal-Maximum Ship Material Readiness. (Author)
