SUGGESTED PROCEDURES FOR AN INTEGRATED INFORMATION SYSTEM,

Abstract

In a companion paper, a plan for devising an integrated Navy ship maintenance and material information system was described. in this paper some sample procedures included are: Ship availability; Casualty reports; Ship material readiness; The budget; Ship maintenance schedule; Unscheduled maintenance; Fleet improvement program; Shipbuilding program; Material research; and Management inventory. The purpose of this paper is to indicate ways in which the proposed integrated system lends support to each of the above and, conversely, by implication, why an integrated system is desirable.
