EXCITATION AND DETECTION TECHNIQUES FOR MILLIMETER WAVE TRANSITIONS.

Abstract

A discussion is given of molecular beam experiments performed during the past quarter. A Ramsey excitation system, a semiconfocal interferometer, and a flat plate interferometer were investigated in the electric resonance system. Studies of the use of an interferometer in an ammonia maser are discussed. A proposed technique for stabilization of a 300 gc carcinotron is reported, and measurements made on submillimeter wave harmonic mixing are shown. The status of spectroscopic investigations and millimeter techniques is briefly reviewed. (Author)
