UTILIZATION OF GAMMA RADIATION TO ENHANCE PROPERTIES OF POLYMERS AND TO INITIATE POLYMERIZATION OF MONOMERS.

Abstract

A gamma radiation procedure for polymerizing, grafting, or crosslinking of vulcanizates, elastomers, thermoplastics as polymers or monomers is described. The design of the radiation cell and a flow diagram of the process are shown. Examples from the literature of the use of the process on various materials are reviewed. (LS-PL).
