FLOWS OF RAREFIED GASES SUPPORTED BY DENSITY AND TEMPERATURE GRADIENTS,

Abstract

Some features of Poiseuille flow in the transition region and in the free molecule limit are considered. In particular it is pointed out that the distribution function in the main body of the flow is a Burnett distribution function, with the consequence that second order slip effects appear. Differences are pointed out between flows supported by density gradients and flows supported by temperature gradients. (Author)
