CORTICOSTEROID-BINDING ACTIVITY OF POOLED VERSUS INDIVIDUAL SERA,

Abstract

The binding of corticosterone-4-C14 to individual rat sera was determined and compared to the corticosterone-binding affinity of a pool ob tained by combining aliquots of each rat serum. The same study was made for the binding of cortisol-4-C14 to individual and pooled human sera. The corticosteroid levels of all the sera used were also determined. It was found that the use of serum pools provided true average values for corticosteroid-binding affinity and endogenous corticosteroid levels. (Author)
