Optical and Infrared Properties of A1203 at Elevated Temperatures.

Abstract

Particles of Al2O3 occur in many different types of flames, and it is important to know the contribution of these particles in order to understand the emissive properties of the flames. Before reliable calculations of the particle contributions could be made, it was found that new information about the absorption coefficient and the index of refraction of the material was needed. The purpose of the work was to provide this information. Previous studies did not include measurements over the wavelengths of interest at the desired temperatures. (Author)
