THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF 1,4-BIS(PENTAFLUOROPHENYLTHIO)TETRAFLUOROBENZENE,

Abstract

The major products of pyrolysis of 1,4-bis(pentafluorophenylthio)tetrafluorobenzene at 500 degrees in vacuum are bis(pentafluorophenyl)sulphide and an involatile solid which is probably a perfluoropolyphenylene sulphide. Much smaller amounts of perfluorobiphenyl and hexafluorobenzene are also formed. Tentative reaction schemes are proposed to account for the formation of these products. (Author)
