FAST NEUTRON STREAMING THROUGH TWO-LEGGED CONCRETE DUCTS

Abstract

As a part of the Laboratory's fundamental shielding studies for personnel shelters, fast neutron dose rates are calculated in the second leg of an air duct through concrete for neutron energies of 14 Mev and 2.5 Mev. The calculational technique is based on the albedo concept. Dose rates are also calculated by a Monte Carlo technique, and the results obtained by the two theoretical methods are compared with each other and with experimental measurements. Comparison shows very good agreement among these three independent determinations.
