WIND TUNNEL AIR WAKE SURVEY AFT OF A 1/144SCALE MODEL AIRCRAFT CARRIER WITH HULL AIRFLOW DEFLECTORS,

Abstract

An air wake dynamic pressure survey was conducted on a model carrier in the wind tunnel to evaluate the ability of hull-mounted deflectors to direct and improve the airflow in the aircraft approach zone behind the angled deck. The results on all deflector configurations tested show no appreciable benefits to be derived. (Author)
