THE SHIP IN A FOLLOWING SEA, (DAS SCHIFF IN VON ACHTERN AUFLAUFENDER SEE),

Abstract

The overall problem of behavior of ships in a seaway was investigated by the Hamburg Model Basin as part of its research program. The author discussed the many factors involved in his study of the stability of a ship in a following sea and its relation to safety. He also presents results of model tests using a unique method of wavemaking. His test results agree well with those of Dr. K. S. M. Davidson, who had studied this problem and conducted tests previously. (Author)
