GEOMAGNETIC INVESTIGATIONS BY SOVIET RESEARCH SHIPS.

Abstract

The purpose of this task is to review geomagnetic investigations carried out by Soviet research ships during the last ten years with emphasis on those of the last three years. Information on the personnel involved, the institutes and organizations connected with this project, descriptions of some of the geomagnetic instruments used, and the data obtained with them are also included. The report is written in two parts. Part I is a compilation, correlation, and evaluation of the Sovet efforts in geomagnetic research (as known from available literature), and Part II consists of supporting materials in the form of abstracts and summary translations (arranged in alphabetical order by author), and illustrative material in the form of tables showing the different voyages of the Soviet research ships.
