100-KILOVOLT CERAMIC-METAL THYRATRON.

Abstract

In view of voltage breakdown and anode take-over difficulties encountered with earlier experimental devices, the design problem of the multigrid hydrogen thyraton tube was analyzed and a new design for an experimental tube developed with which the investigation of proper grid geometry will be carried out. The new design permits the use of an indefinite number of flat gradient grids. The first tube of this type made with four grids was constructed and is described in this report. The parts for a 100 KV network were received but the test set was not assembled. Test results for the new tube type were, therefore, not available at the end of the period covered by this report.
