COMPILER LANGUAGE STANDARDIZATION AND EVALUATION.

Abstract

Effort was made to evaluate compiler languages and computer systems with respect to military problems. The problems of compatibility among different areas and different levels in the same area received prime consideration. Initially language and compiler comparisons were made by checking various programs, written in different higher-level languages, that were applicable to military requirements. Then various languages were studied with regard to their ability to handle what were considered the more difficult parts of certain areas of military application. Finally, compatibility and methods of obtaining it were investigated. Comparisons of several languages and their ability to meet various requirements are given, and different methods of obtaining compatibility are discussed. (Author)
