THE COMBUSTION DRIVEN SHOCK TUNNEL OF THE POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE OF BROOKLYN.

Abstract

A hypersonic shock tunnel has been designed and constructed for obtaining fluid dynamic and electromagnetic properties of the flow field around hypersonic reentry bodies. In this report the design philosophy and a description of the combustion driven shock tunnel of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn is presented as well as the estimated performance of the shock tunnel over a range of test section stagnation conditions.
