XV-8A Flexible Wing Aerial Utility Vehicle

Abstract

This report discusses procedures and accomplishments of the design, fabrication and the test program of the XV-8V vehicle and: (1) investigates the construction of a Flexible Wing Light Utility Vehicle, simple to operate, and capable of transporting a 1,000-pound payload for a distance of 100 miles at a speed of 50 miles per hour; (2) covers the design, building and testing of two vehicles; and (3) concludes that the vehicles as described are feasible, and recommends further tests.
