CONDENSED STATE REACTIONS AT HIGH PRESSURE.

Abstract

Recent progress in evaluating the lattice stability of f.c.c., b.c.c., and h.c.p. forms of pure metals from thermodynamic studies of phase equilibria is discussed. Examples illustrating the applicability of high pressure-high temperature investigations of condensed state reactions as well as one atmosphere thermodynamic and martensitic transformation studies to solution of this problem are presented. Lattice stability data for Ti, Zr, Fe, Ru, Cu, Ag, Zn, Mo, W, Tl, Ca, Sr, Be, Yb, Ba, Sn, Bi, Ge and Si are reviewed. (Author)
