SELF-FOCUSING EFFECTS IN PARTIALLY AND FULLY NEUTRALIZED ELECTRON BEAMS,

Abstract

One-dimensional models of planar beams are investigated for three cases, the fully-neutralized beam and the partially-neutralized beam as encountered in a low-pressure beam-generated plasma. Appropriate initial conditions or approximations are introduced to allow closedform solutions for beam profiles. These solutions are compared with previous results where applicable and lay some ground work for further investigations of beam profiles in beam-generated plasmas. (Author)
