DEVELOPMENT OF SYNCHRO APPLICATIONS FOR AT-SEA COMPUTER.

Abstract

An investigation is reported of several schemes for retrieving synchro angle information directly from the synchro stator voltages without a mechanical coupling or a servo follow-up. The schemes involved the use of a tandem synchro arrangement whose output voltage phase angle was a function of rotor position; use of phaseshifting circuitry on the stator outputs producing an output voltage whose phase angle was a function of the mechanical angle; and the use of resolver synchros. The first and the last scheme required a torque-producing device. The direct electrical readout appeared to offer the most promise. (Author)
