A SUMMARY OF DIGITAL-TRANSDUCER DEVELOPMENTS AND TECHNIQUES,

Abstract

A brief review of the definitions of digital and analog transducers provides a background terminology for a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of each type. Semi- and true digital transducers are tentatively defined in terms of time and space domains. A variety of digitizing and coding techniques are discussed prior to summarizing some significant digital-transducer research results. Manufacturers' information on currently available digital transducers is discussed. (Author)
