EFFECT OF THE UNIT RECORD MOUNT AND PROCESSING ON 70MM X 100MM FILM CHIPS.

Abstract

The effort involved the determination of the effect of various types of Unit Record Mounts upon photographic film chips during the storageretrieval and handling processes. The objectives of this effort were to determine: (1) number, size and location of scratches produced on the film chips by the various Unit Record Mount Configurations; (2) number, size and location of scratches and impurities produced on film chips as a result of exposure, processing and cutting; (3) the effect of scratches and impurities on the imagery within the unit records; and (4) the most suitable Unit Record mount configuration for use in the manipulation of film chips.
