THE RADIATION ENVIRONMENT.

Abstract

This pamphlet summarizes current knowledge of the radiation environment. The interactions between the solar wind and the earth's magnetosphere are described in some detail since these interactions have such a profound effect on the radiation environment. Both qualitative and quantitative estimates of the energy levels and intensity of electromagnetic, cosmic, and corpuscular radiation are presented in terms of their potential hazard to materials and biological specimens in aerospace.
