THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD NEAR A PARASITIC CYLINDRICAL ANTENNA.

Abstract

The total electromagnetic field near a highlyconducting cylindrical antenna of finite length excited by a plane electromagnetic wave with the electric vector Ez to the i power parallel to the axis of the cylinder is investigated. The integral equation for the current in the cylinder is transformed into an integral equation for the axial component Ez(p,z) of the electric field. This equation is solved approximately and an explicit formula for Ez(p,z) is derived. This together with the simply obtained expressions for B theta (p,z) and Ep(p,z) gives the complete electromagnetic field near a conducting cylinder. (Author)
