STABLE FERRITES FOR R.F. APPLICATIONS.

Abstract

Spinel ferrites of the approximate formulation 30 Mol-% NiO, 20, Mol-% ZnO, and 50 Mol-% Fe2O3 were prepared using spray dried powder and soft moist powder . Soft moist powders were found to yield higher densities and therefore improved magnetic porperties over the spray dried method. Since milled in iron is a problem in obtaining stoichiometry and since it is supposed that a truly stoich-icometric body would yield equally good temperature coeffiency and UQ results, therefore the following procedure was attempted. Using oxalic acid treatment a deficient iron, material was made and combining it with an excess iron material a very near stoichiometric material was obtained. This resulted in reasonably good magnetic (mu sub oQ) results and an improved temperature factor, however nonlinearity of permeability with temperature is still too high. Also D.C. field measurements continued showing that if different types of demagnetization methods are first employed the permeability of the ferrites will have different slopes accordingly. Also the improvement of the accuracy of various measurement setups were undertaken. (Author)
