DETOXIFICATION OF THE VENOMS OF THE RUSSELL'S VIPER (VIPERA RUSSELLII) AND WATER MOCCASIN (AGKISTRODON PISCIVORUS) BY PHOTOOXIDATION,

Abstract

Photooxidation of six venoms of domestic and foreign snakes resulted in the detoxification of all venoms. Immunization of rabbits with two of the detoxified venoms, Agkistrodon piscivorus and Vipera russellii, resulted in the production of antibodies which protected mice against the action of unaltered venom.
