RESEARCH ON SYNTHESIS OF UNSATURATED FLUOROCARBON COMPOUNDS

Abstract

A study has been made for producing perfluoroallyl bromide and iodide. The latter olefin reacted with alcohols to produce ethers such as CF(sub3)-CH(sub2)OCF(sub2)CF=CF(sub2). Attempts to prepare [CF(sub2)=CFCH(sub2)CH(sub2)CH(sub2)](sub2)O from the allyl ethers have been carried out but cyclic ethers were formed. An investigation of the radical addition of CF(sub3)CF(sub2)CCl(sub3), CF(sub2)ClCF(sub2)-CCl(sub3), CFClBrCFClBr and CCI(sub3)CF(sub2)CFClBr with various olefins has been initiated. Studies of the preparation of perfluoroalkane enoyides have also been initiated.
