HIGH TEMPERATURE POLYMERS FROM 1,3-DEPOLAR ADDITION REACTIONS.

Abstract

The synthetic investigations of two diamino acids, m-phenylenediglycine and N,N'-4,4-oxydiphenylene) diglycine, which are precursors to two bis-sydnones, have been carried out. Two model compounds, 1-3-diphenylpyrazole and 1,1'-diphenyl3,3'-p-phenylenedipyrazole, have been systhesized from reactions of 3-phenyl sydnone with phenyl acetylene and p-diethynylbenzene, respectively. The latter reaction has been investigated with respect to reaction solvent in order to uncover optimum conditions for the polymerization. Three nitrile imine precursors, phenylhydrazide chloride, isophthaloylhydrazide chloride, and terephthaloylhydrazide chloride, have been synthesized. The reaction of phenylhydrazide chloride with p-diethnylbenzene in the presence of triethyl amine yields 1,1',3.3'-tetraphenyl5,5'-p-phenylenedipyrazole. (Author)
