SEASONAL MODELS OF AIR DENSITY, TEMPERATURE AND WIND BETWEEN SURFACE AND 25 KM FOR FOUR GEOGRAPHIC ZONES,

Abstract

Twenty sets of air density values are presented at one km intervals between 0 km and 25 km altitude. These profiles represent mean and 'one-sigma' conditions in four zones (tropics, subtropics, temperate and polar) and for summer, winter and annual reference periods. 'Onesigma' profiles have been established by incorporating the vertical relationship between densities at height levels. In addition, temperature profiles are given which are most probably associated with each density profile. Also, values of mean scalar wind speed and of vector standard deviation are presented for the same height levels, zones and reference periods. (Author)
