FACE PUMPED LASER.

Abstract

Four different neodymium doped glasses have been procured and optically finished in the form of discs and segments. Face pumped assemblies have been completed to test discs of 6 and 3 inch diameters. The 6-inch disc assembly has been used to: (a) demonstrate laser action, (b) measure optical distortion due to thermal effects, and (c) measure amplified spontaneous emission. (Author)
