AUTOMATIC LANGUAGE TRANSLATION.
Abstract
This report documents the work performed in automatic Russian-English translation. The objective of this contract was to extend and improve capabilities of the USAF-IBM translation system based on limited-environment program. Linguistic studies, implementation research and lexicographic work were performed to achieve this objective. Linguistic studies consisted in development of more extensive grammatical and syntactic information for inclusion in the Photostore Lexicon. As a part of this effort, adjectival entries in this dictionary were provided with government tags, and a detailed study of grammatical and semantic properties of Russian nouns was carried out.
